The Metric System

The metric system is a system of weight and measurement which was first adopted by France and is now almost universally used in the sciences and art. The greater part of population of the world works on the metric system.

Basic standards: Relation between English measure and Metric measure is as follows.
1 inch               = 25.4 mm                   = 2.54 cm
1 meter             = 39.37 inches             = 1.09 yards
1 liter                = 1.76 pints                  = 0.22 galls (imp)
1 gallon (imp)   = 4.546 liters
1 gallon (US)    = 3.785 liters
1 pound avp     = 0.4536 kilograms
1 kilogram        = 2.2046 pound avp

The metric system of unit called centimeter – gram – second (CGS) system is commonly used in scientific circle, and meter – kilogram – second (MKS) or metro – ton – second (MTS) system is more generally used in engineering.

Water Supply System Configuration

In general, water distribution system can be divided into four main components:

  1. Water Source and Intake works
  2. Treatment work and Storage
  3. Transmission main
  4. Distribution Network
The common resources for the untreated or raw water are from surface water source such as rivers, lakes, springs, man made reservoirs and groundwater sources as bores and shallow wells.

Individual water supplies are usually from bores and shallow wells. Communal water supply can be from all water resources depending on quantity and quality of raw water. The raw water is transported to the treatment plant for processing thought transmission mains and stored in clear water reservoirs after treatment. The degree of treatment depends upon the raw water quality and finished water quality requirements.

Water is carried over long distance trough transmission main to pump house or gravity reservoir then to be distribution to costumers by distribution network.

About water

Before we talk about engineering aspect of water, my we should consider to thinking what use of water in this life system of earth.

Water and air are essential for human life. I think I will categories water and air as special matter and forests as the only factory to recycle and produce this two special matter. Water and air also have its own will how to move around the earth, if we try to control a water it’s mean we have to compromise with Mother of Nature.

We know some categories for water, sea water, clean water, waste water and drinking water. From that all categories the most directly impact for life is drinking water, as we know drinking water is relate to all water circles so it’s very important to maintenance the earth water system. How we can do it? It’s easy actually first step by keep you forest grow and healthy, then research for more safety power source.

Now is our time to make act try to safe and make earth to be more beautiful palace for life. We have to act know, because if we not start now we will never to start, it’s better late than never.
